We are looking for a Polaris Migration and Security Compliance Officer to work on a service contract for one of our clients on site.
You will be responsible for managing system evolution initiatives, migration activities, and security compliance requirements across the Polaris environment.
The role serves as a key liaison between business stakeholders, technical teams, and governance functions to ensure that system changes, migrations, and decommissioning activities are planned, executed, and documented in accordance with approved security policies and compliance standards.
You will provide oversight of testing, risk mitigation, data integrity, and knowledge transfer activities while driving continuous improvement in migration and security processes.
About the client and location
The ESA Centre for Earth Observation (ESRIN) is the European Space Agency’s (ESA) base in Frascati, Italy. From this location ESA conducts most of their earth observation research, including data analysis and distribution for other non-ESA satellites.
This position is open to protected categories under Italian Law 68/99 (“Rules for the right to work of disabled people”).

Tasks and activities
The scope of work will include:
- Engaging with business stakeholders to capture, document, and manage system evolution requirements.
- Coordinating with DevOps and technical teams to plan and deliver approved system enhancements.
- Managing system evolution activities from concept through to delivery and user acceptance.
- Developing and overseeing migration and decommissioning plans for legacy systems.
- Ensuring migration activities comply with organisational security requirements, certification agreements, and approved procedures.
- Monitoring data integrity, consistency, and security throughout migration projects.
- Verifying that approved security protocols and controls are applied during data transfer activities.
- Developing and overseeing migration testing strategies, validation plans, and readiness assessments.
- Coordinating non-production testing environments to validate migration activities before production deployment.
- Maintaining migration, security, and compliance documentation.
- Delivering training and knowledge transfer related to migration, compliance, and operational procedures.
- Identifying process improvement opportunities and recommend enhancements to migration and security practices.
- Supporting audits, compliance reviews, and operational governance activities.
Skills and experience
The following skills and experience are mandatory:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Security, Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience managing system migrations, decommissioning projects, or enterprise transformation initiatives.
- Strong knowledge of information security principles, governance, and compliance requirements.
- Experience with risk management, security controls, and secure data transfer processes.
- Knowledge of testing, validation, and quality assurance methodologies.
- Ability to develop migration strategies, implementation plans, and supporting documentation.
- Strong stakeholder engagement, communication, and organisational skills.
- Background working in security-sensitive or regulated environments.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
The following skills and experience would be highly desirable:
- Professional security certifications such as CISSP, CISM, ISO 27001 Lead Implementer/Auditor, or equivalent.
- Experience with ESA, aerospace, defense, or government environments.
- Familiarity with DevOps, Agile delivery methodologies, and change management practices.
- Knowledge of data governance and records management.
- Project management certification (PMP, PRINCE2, AgilePM).
- Experience supporting audits, accreditation activities, or security certification programs.
