We are seeking a Siemens Polarion System Configuration Officer for a service contract with one of our clients. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team at the client’s premises.

You will be responsible for the analysis, design, configuration, customisation, integration, testing, and ongoing optimisation of the Siemens Polarion Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) platform.

The role works closely with business stakeholders, project teams, and technical specialists to translate operational requirements into effective Polarion solutions that support engineering, quality, and development processes.

You will be responsible for ensuring that system configurations, integrations, data migrations, and documentation are delivered in compliance with organisational standards. In addition, you will provide user support, deliver training, and contribute to the continuous improvement of Polarion processes and solutions

About the client and location

The ESA Centre for Earth Observation (ESRIN) is the European Space Agency’s (ESA) base in Frascati, Italy. From this location ESA conducts most of their earth observation research, including data analysis and distribution for other non-ESA satellites.

This position is open to protected categories under Italian Law 68/99 (“Rules for the right to work of disabled people”).

Tasks and activities

The scope of work will include:

  • Analysing business and stakeholder requirements and translating them into Polarion solution architectures and implementation plans.
  • Defining application scope, data models, workflows, lifecycle management processes, and configuration strategies.
  • Configuring and customising Siemens Polarion objects, workflows, metadata structures, user roles, and access controls.
  • Developing and maintaining custom forms, workflow automations, and change management processes.
  • Designing, developing, and supporting integrations between Polarion and internal/external systems using APIs and middleware solutions.
  • Planning and executing data migration activities, including mapping, validation, reconciliation, and issue resolution.
  • Developing and executing testing strategies, including functional, integration, regression, performance, and user acceptance testing.
  • Investigating, documenting, and coordinating the resolution of system defects and performance issues.
  • Creating and maintaining technical documentation, configuration baselines, user manuals, and administrator guides.
  • Delivering end-user and administrator training and support knowledge transfer activities.
  • Identifying opportunities for process improvements and recommend system enhancements.
  • Ensuring configuration management, version control, quality standards, and documentation integrity are maintained throughout the project lifecycle.

Skills and experience

The following skills and experience are mandatory:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience administering and configuring Siemens Teamcenter.
  • Strong understanding of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) principles and processes.
  • Experience with workflow design, metadata management, access control, and lifecycle configuration.
  • Knowledge of enterprise application integration and data migration methodologies.
  • Experience with testing, validation, and system deployment activities.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to create technical documentation and conduct user training.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.

The following skills and experience would be highly desirable:

  • Polarion certification or Siemens ecosystem certifications.
  • Experience supporting aerospace, defense, engineering, or regulated industries.
  • Knowledge of Agile, DevOps, and ITIL methodologies.
  • Familiarity with scripting, automation, and system customisation tools.
  • Project management certification (PRINCE2, PMP, Agile Practitioner, Scrum Master).
  • Experience with ESA or other large international organisations.
