We are looking for a Front-End Engineer to join our software development team located in Diegem, Belgium.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of an operational data processing, storage and dissemination system for scientific data obtained from satellites. The system will leverage cloud technologies to ensure scalability as the demand for its services increases.
Tasks and activities
The scope of activities will include:
- Designing and developing data processing and analysis software for current and future satellite missions for our customers in the European space industry.
- Software implementation and testing for space projects.
- Supporting user requirements analysis and system design.
- Implementing and testing data processing and distribution systems for space data.
- Developing and modernising large-scale scientific, data‑driven web platforms.
- Designing software systems for space applications, including ground segment processing, operations support, and automated spacecraft control.
Skills and experience
The following skills and experience are mandatory:
- University degree (or equivalent) in Software Engineering or a related discipline.
- At least 3 years of proven experience in software engineering, with a focus on front-end development.
- Strong experience in component‑based UI development.
- Solid understanding of HTML5, CSS3 and modern JavaScript (ES6+).
- Hands-on experience with modern front-end development, including frameworks (React, Angular, Vue), state management, RESTful API integration, web technologies, version control, build tools, and CI pipelines.
- Knowledge of modular front-end design and reusable components.
- Experience with technical documentation, including user requirements, design, and test documentation.
- Desire to work both autonomously and as part of a team, in an international multicultural environment.
- Solution oriented mindset, with a customer focused communication skill.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
The following skills and experience would be highly desirable:
- Hands-on experience with Liferay DXP front‑end development (themes, templates, portlets).
- Experience in front-end testing frameworks.
- Understanding of Data base technologies, SQL.
- Experience in Linux environments.
- Strong capability in Docker-based deployments, performance optimisation, and Agile software development with CI practices.
