I’m Operations Director for Starion in Italy where I’ve worked for 14 years. Every day is different in my role!
What’s your role?
I’m the Operations Director for Starion Italia. I am based in our Frascati office and have worked for the company for 14 years.
What’s a typical day in your working life like?
As Operations Director, each day is very different. There are, of course, regular meetings, but in addition I have the operational issues of various projects and of the office to take care of.
My main job is supporting the project and service managers in their work, giving them all the information and resources they need in order to ensure that the activities they are responsible for perform excellently and the customers are happy.
In addition, I’m involved in following up new opportunities. This involves interacting with the Business Development and Bid teams, and arranging support from the Operations side, to ensure the proposals that are prepared are of high quality technically so as to maximise the chances of gaining new business.
Finally, in my role I have frequent contact with other departments including HR, Finance, Recruitment and other business units to ensure that the activities and needs of operations within the Italian business unit are aligned with the rest of the company.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
In my position, I feel I can really make concrete contributions that help to make Starion a company in which people are happy to work and one that our clients can trust to provide them with excellent results.
What has been your most memorable career highlight?
Before moving into the Operations Director role, I was very active, together with other colleagues, in transforming the support we provided to customers from a manpower approach to a service approach, with very good results both for customers and internally.
Do you have any tips for people trying to get jobs in your area of expertise?
Be eager to learn new things, be focused on the results and don’t be afraid to take on responsibilities.
How do you wind down?
I enjoy spending time with family and friends. I also love listening to audiobooks.
