Date: 5-9 May 2025
Location: Stellenbosch, Cape Town, South Africa

The 9th IAA Planetary Defense Conference, organised by the International Academy of Astronautics, aims to highlight processes, technologies, techniques, missions and data sets that have been and must be developed to support planetary defence, and strengthen international cooperation for protecting the Earth from impact hazards associate with asteroids and comets. Among the key session topics are near-Earth object (NEO) discovery and characterisation, deflection/disruption modelling and testing, and disaster management and impact response.

Starion is directly involved in the operations of the NEO Coordination Centre, which is the European Space Agency’s (ESA’s) centre for observing and computing asteroid orbits and assessing their impact risk. We are also contributing to ESA’s Hera asteroid observation mission.

Experts from Starion’s team at NEOCC will attend the Conference. To arrange a meeting with our team, please contact us at info@stariongroup.eu
