Cyberwal in Galaxia is an international cybersecurity academy held annually in Wallonia, Belgium, aimed at fostering cybersecurity talent and innovation across Europe. The academy is designed to equip students, professionals and researchers with cutting-edge knowledge in cybersecurity and is hosted at the Euro Space Center, which is situated in Belgium’s Cyber Valley in Transinne – the leading hub for cybersecurity in Belgium.
The event includes lectures, workshops and networking sessions led by top-tier experts from academia, industry and government.
The theme on day 3 – Wednesday 10 December – is ‘Quantum Technology and Cybersecurity’. At 13:30 CET, Patrick Renaux, Senior Cybersecurity Architect from Starion Luxembourg, will give a presentation on the International Use Cases for Operational Quantum Key Distribution Applications and Services (INT-UQKD) project.
The INT-UQKD project started in September 2022, building and operating an interoperable terrestrial and space QKD network, capable of delivering a cost-efficient quantum-safe solution able to support multiple use cases. Starion Luxembourg and its partners have now been operating a terrestrial QKD link for over 2 years and will implement the first space QKD link in 2026.
