We are looking for a MBSE Engineer to work at our premises in Leiden, Netherlands. You will work with Capella, CDP4 COMET and digital engineering methods to bring requirements, interfaces and design decisions together into one coherent system view.

Naval defence projects bring together many functions such as energy, communication, safety and control. These functions continuously interact and evolve. You will bring structure to systems that grow quickly and help teams understand how functions connect and which design choices move the system forward. This position is open only to Dutch nationals due to the nature of the work for the Dutch Ministry of Defence.

Tasks and activities

The scope of work will include:

  • Developing system models based on clear requirements and interface information using Capella and the MBSE approach.
  • Using tools such as CDP4 COMET to connect design, testing and verification.
  • Tailoring the MBSE approach to suit maritime projects.
  • Aligning with project management so that planning and models follow a consistent logic.
  • Contributing to verification and validation and showing how each requirement will be tested.
  • Supporting Starion in new proposals by demonstrating how digital engineering adds value in design, safety and collaboration.

Skills and experience

The following skills and experience are mandatory:

  • Master’s Degree or equivalent in a relevant technical field.
  • Experience in MBSE activities.
  • Proven capability with Capella at intermediate to advanced level.
  • Motivation to work in an environment where technology, safety and collaboration meet.
  • Interest in the naval and maritime domain and willingness to deepen that knowledge.
  • Desire to work both autonomously and as part of a team, in an international multicultural environment.
  • Solution oriented mindset, with a customer focused communication skill.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.

The following skills and experience would be highly desirable:

  • Previous experience with Model Based System Engineering methodologies, standards, languages and tools (e.g. applying the Arcadia methodology in Capella).

Why should you apply?

  • You will have the opportunity contribute to high-impact naval programmes within the Dutch Ministry of Defence
  • We encourage everyone to think outside the box and to push the boundaries of traditional knowledge. This role is an opportunity to join a forward-thinking company and allows for a deeper understanding of the industry.
  • To be part of a company that values integrity, inspiration, care and collaboration.
  • Benefits include: competitive remuneration packages; unique career opportunities, including working in other countries; access to training and development programmes; flexible relocation support.

We are proud to be an equal opportunity employer, committed to achieving diversity within the workforce and creating an inclusive working environment. We therefore welcome applications from all candidates, irrespective of gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, religious beliefs, age, disability or other characteristics.

As part of our commitment to providing an inclusive and barrier-free recruitment process, we will provide reasonable adjustments and support to ensure neuro-diverse applicants or those with a disability or long-term condition can be their best during the recruitment process.
