We are looking for a Cloud Engineer to work at ESTEC’s premises in Noordwijk, Netherlands , where you will join a Service Team supporting ESA’s IT Infrastructure Section within the Security and Shared Infrastructure Services Division of ESA’s IT Department.
About the client and location
The European Space Research and Technology Centre (ESTEC) is the European Space Agency’s (ESA) base in Noordwijk, the Netherlands. As ESA’s largest test centre, it is responsible for the majority of space technology and spacecraft development through varying phases of production.
Tasks and activities
The scope of activities may include the below:
- Onboarding and end-user support.
- Supporting ESA’s infrastructure provisioning platform, covering administration, development, and infrastructure automation enhancements.
- Expansion of the ESA cloud infrastructure and services, integrating new infrastructure components and models, such as hyperconverged infrastructure and hybrid cloud solutions.
Skills and experience
The following skills and experience are mandatory:
- Master’s degree or equivalent qualification in Information Technology or Engineering.
- Experience in public and private cloud platforms (vCloud Director, AWS, Azure).
- Strong knowledge of modern infrastructure virtualisation and cloud computing technologies and solutions, including VMware vCloud Suite and OpenStack.
- Expertise in enterprise storage and backup solutions.
- Experience with container orchestration platforms and services, such as Kubernetes.
- Proficiency in datacentre networking, cloud brokering, and automation/DevOps tools (e.g. Ansible).
- Software development skills for infrastructure automation, such as Python, Go, Terraform, and shell scripting.
- Skills in back‑end and front‑end web development technologies.
- Management of container and orchestration technologies, including Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, and kubectl.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
