We are looking for an Artificial Intelligence Engineer to work at ESTEC’s premises in Noordwijk, Netherlands.
About the client and location
The European Space Research and Technology Centre (ESTEC) is the European Space Agency’s (ESA) base in Noordwijk, the Netherlands. As ESA’s largest test centre, it is responsible for the majority of space technology and spacecraft development through varying phases of production.
Tasks and activities
The scope of work will include:
- Supporting the definition and development of AI systems, from concept to implementation.
- Contributing to the analysis and trade-off of AI techniques and technologies, helping identify the most effective approaches for each project.
- Assisting in the integration and deployment of AI solutions within existing systems and operational workflows.
- Managing and pre-processing data used for training AI models, ensuring high standards of quality, consistency, and availability.
- Supporting the verification and validation of AI systems to ensure reliability and compliance with mission objectives.
- Training and fine-tuning AI models, continuously optimizing their performance, accuracy, and efficiency.
- Monitoring and maintaining AI systems in operation, adjusting and updating them as needed to ensure ongoing effectiveness.
- Contributing to the definition of standards and best practices for the development and deployment of AI technologies.
Skills and experience
The following skills and experience are mandatory:
- Master’s Degree in Engineering or Computer Science is required.
- At least 5 years of relevant work experience.
- Proven Knowledge of and experience with Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) techniques, data science methodologies, etc.
- Familiarity with Artificial Intelligence and Data Science approaches for engineering analysis, mission optimisation, decision support.
- Desire to work both autonomously and as part of a team, in an international multicultural environment.
- Solution oriented mindset, with a customer focused communication skill.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
- Candidates must be eligible for a security personal clearance from an EU Member State national security administration.
