Satellite Imagery Production Manager

We are currently looking for a Satellite Imagery Production Manager to work in the Earth Observation segment of the Data Processing Centre. The key person will have the opportunity to be part of a dynamic and strong team working in commissioning activities and the routine operations of the mission in close coordination with the overall Mission Operations Centre and in full compliance with the customer’s needs.

You will be responsible for quality of satellite imagery services to the internal and external stakeholders, and will be co-managing a team of six people, ensuring the 24/7 availability of the system and responsible for the correct dispatching of the products to the end clients/users. You will be interfacing with all stakeholders of the Ground Control Centre, the Mission Operations Centre, and its Payload Ground Control Centre.

Tasks and activities

The scope of activities will include:

• Ensuring quality of service for direct clients and end users, as well as 24/7 service resilience.
• Managing the nominal and high-level production of images and verifying the correct execution of all process treatments.
• Defining, performing & anticipating contingency procedures to resume nominal operations.
• Performing quality control of the products before distribution to the clients.
• Managing and monitoring the cataloguing and archiving functions.
• Writing, editing, and controlling ground operations procedures and documentation.
• Contribution to HW/SW/network maintenance of the production subsystem environment.
• Daily liaison with managers of other MOC segments to support continuous improvement and system robustness.
• Participating in all the preparations and acceptance activities of the Ground Control Segment, such as Commissioning phase and In-Orbit Qualification
• Co-management and leadership of a team of satellite imagery operators.
• Provision of on-call support as required.
• Organisation and coordination of team training activities.

The following skills and experience are mandatory:

• Senior Engineer with a degree in Informatics or equivalent qualification.
• Proven experience working with large operational systems, preferably in a space environment.
• Proven experience in team and people management within an operational environment.
• Understanding of imagery and GIS.
• Practical experience working with operational customers.
• Team spirit and the ability to collaborate and share information effectively across functions.
• Ability to work in an operational and commercial context.
• Positive, focused, and proactive mindset with strong problem-solving capabilities.
• Candidates must be eligible to gain security clearance.
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken.

The following skills and experience are highly desirable:

• Knowledge and working experience of Earth Observation systems or similar.
• Experience in a 24/7 working environment.
• Proven experience in image processing procedures.
• Knowledge of user service request management.
• Knowledge of any additional EU language would be considered an asset
