We are looking for a Project Lead to work at our client’s premises in Bonn, Germany.
The Project Lead will be responsible for managing and overseeing the needs analysis for the National Space Weather Advisory Service”, a key initiative under Germany’s Space Security Strategy. The project aims to protect German satellite operations, as well as their associated services, data, and products, from the impacts of space weather events, and to strengthen the resilience of critical infrastructures reliant on space‑based and terrestrial systems.
In this role, the Project Lead will coordinate expert assessments, engage with key national and European stakeholders, and deliver a comprehensive portfolio of space weather services tailored to German and European requirements.
Tasks and activities
The scope of work will include:
- Leading the requirements assessment for a national space weather advisory service, with a focus on protecting German satellite operations and critical dependent infrastructures, including energy and communications.
- Coordinating and managing multidisciplinary experts across space weather, satellite operations, and related infrastructure domains.
- Engaging directly with representatives of German need‑holders to identify the impacts of space weather events and required protective measures.
- Conducting market analysis of existing protection measures to identify collaboration opportunities and potential synergies.
- Developing and presenting a portfolio of recommended space weather services, products, and offerings to support national deployment.
- Ensuring alignment of the German space weather advisory service within the European context, delivering benefits at a European level.
- Overseeing project progress, timelines, and deliverables in line with contractual requirements and deadlines.
- Maintaining electronic documentation, reporting, and invoicing in compliance with organisational and procurement standards.
Skills and experience
The following skills and experience are mandatory:
- A minimum of a diploma or master’s degree in a relevant discipline, such as space sciences, astrophysics, aerospace engineering, or satellite operations.
- At least one year of professional experience in a relevant field, directly related to space weather, space weather services, or satellite operations in Germany.
- Proven ability to lead projects, with prior project management experience in space weather, satellite operations, or related services considered a strong advantage.
- Demonstrated involvement in projects related to space weather information, space weather services, or satellite operations is considered a strong plus.
- Strong project management, stakeholder coordination, and analytical skills, with the ability to translate technical assessments into actionable recommendations.
- Desire to work both autonomously and as part of a team, in an international multicultural environment.
- Solution oriented mindset, with a customer focused communication skill.
- Full professional proficiency in German and English (both at a minimum of C1 level), with proven ability to communicate effectively with government bodies, research institutions, and industry partners.

- Strategic thinking, with the ability to translate technical assessments into actionable recommendations.
