We are looking for a Software Engineering Intern to join our team for a 3 to 6-month internship. In this role, you’ll actively support the frontend or backend technologies, while gaining valuable exposure to at least one of the following projects:
- SAFEPLACE: This project supports civil protection and emergency response organisations by providing near real-time, actionable information during crises. The platform integrates a wide range of data sources – including satellite communications (satcoms), Earth observation imagery, IoT devices, and a network of in-situ sensors – to create a comprehensive situational awareness environment.
- ESMS (European RF Spectrum Monitoring Service): This service will support regulated use of the RF spectrum by providing data to the relevant authorities/authorised users for identifying illegal or unauthorised activities on land, at sea, or in the air.
- CDP4-COMET SysML2 (R)evolution: Complete rebuild of Starion’s flagship MBSE solution to embrace the new SysMLv2 standard.
Tasks and activities
The scope of activities is flexible and can be oriented toward frontend or backend development, with activities selected from, but not limited to, the following:
- Gaining practical experience in backend development and database design.
- Contributing to frontend engineering projects while learning how to design intuitive and engaging user interfaces through solid UI/UX principles.
- Exploring the world of artificial intelligence and machine learning.
- Supporting software quality and assurance activities, ensuring high performance, reliability, and best coding practices across development phases.
- Discovering the potential of quantum key distribution and contributing to cutting-edge research in secure communication technologies.
- Collaborating within a diverse and supportive team, sharing ideas, learning from others, and developing both your technical and professional skills.
Skills and experience
The following skills and experience are mandatory:
- Pursuing a University Master’s Degree in a relevant field.
- Knowledge of C# and PostgreSQL. Bonus points if you’ve explored GIS tools or mapping technologies.
- Or a solid foundation in TypeScript/JavaScript, along with HTML and CSS.
- Desire to work both autonomously and as part of a team, in an international multicultural environment.
- Solution oriented mindset, with a customer focused communication skill.
- Desire to work both autonomously and as part of a team, in an international multicultural environment.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
