We are looking for a MBSE and Digital Engineer to work at ESTEC’s premises in Noordwijk, Netherlands.
About the client and location
The European Space Research and Technology Centre (ESTEC) is the European Space Agency’s (ESA) base in Noordwijk, the Netherlands. As ESA’s largest test centre, it is responsible for the majority of space technology and spacecraft development through varying phases of production.
Tasks and activities
The scope of work will include:
- Providing support to projects in deploying and implementing Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and digital engineering solutions, ensuring efficient integration across programmes.
- Supporting the proposal, development, piloting, and evaluation of new methods and tools for MBSE and digital engineering to enhance ESA’s engineering capabilities.
- Identifying and addressing tool and infrastructure needs for digital engineering activities, supporting the development, maintenance, and evolution of project systems.
- Infusing MBSE and digital engineering practices into tools and models used for systems and concurrent engineering, fostering innovation and consistency.
- Contributing to the definition and implementation of the ESA technology strategy and supporting the preparation of R&D work plans to align with strategic objectives.
- Facilitating the promotion, coordination, and selection of technology initiatives that advance MBSE and digital engineering practices within ESA.
- Supporting the initiation, definition, and management of R&D activities under ESA’s technology programmes, ensuring quality and technical excellence.
- Monitoring scientific and technological trends in systems and digital engineering, maintaining a state-of-the-art understanding of emerging MBSE methodologies and tools.
- Enhancing standardisation processes in systems and MBSE through ESA internal procedures, lessons learned, and collaboration with the ECSS Authority.
Skills and experience
The following skills and experience are mandatory:
- Master’s Degree or equivalent in Engineering or Computer Science.
- At least 5 years of work experience, including 3 years of experience in MBSE activities.
- Knowledge and experience with Concurrent Engineering methodology, tools, and applications.
- Experience in space systems domains, including Mission Analysis.
- Knowledge of digitalisation, data-driven engineering methods, and MBSE tools.
- Technical Authoring and Documentation Management, including preparation, editing, and quality control of technical reports, project documentation, and web-based content.
- Desire to work both autonomously and as part of a team, in an international multicultural environment.
- Solution oriented mindset, with a customer focused communication skill.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
