We are looking for a System I&V Engineer to work at EUMETSAT’s premises in Darmstadt, Germany.

About the client and location

The European Organisation for the Exploration of Meteorological Satellites (EUMETSAT) is a political organisation comprising of 30 European member states. EUMETSAT operates satellites to monitor weather, climate, and the changing environment. They are responsible for helping to isolate potentially dangerous weather conditions that could affect air travel, farming, and other key service industries.

Tasks and activities

The scope of work will include:

  • Supporting I&V design and preparation activities and support for definition of test tools and test data required to support the I&V implementation.
  • Provide traces between requirements and test procedures and reports, using the corporate tools (i.e. DOORS).
  • Participate in the test campaigns, contributing to the recording of evidence and anomalies, and the preparation of Verification Control Document.
  • Feed the corporative tools (DOORS) with I&V information regarding the trace of test procedures and reports to requirements.
  • Preparation (or contribution to) of Verification Reports for the requirements with verification methods set to Review of Design, Analysis, and Inspection
  • Contribute to the Test Readiness Review and Test Review Board
  • Contribute to the planning of test campaigns for the integration and verification of new or modified components of the ground segment of the operational missions.
  • Document the test specification and procedures for the integration and verification of new or modified components of the ground segment of the operational missions.
  • Contribute to the planning of test campaigns for the integration and verification of components of the ground segment of the new missions.
  • Document the test specification and procedures for the integration and verification of components of the ground segment of the missions under development.

Skills and experience

The following skills and experience are mandatory:

  • University Degree or equivalent, from an institution of higher education (in a relevant discipline), with at least five years of relevant work experience in integration & verification.
  • Knowledge of requirement management process and tools, e.g. DOORS.
  • Experience in requirements-based design, development, and verification process of satellite ground systems.
  • Knowledge of processes implementation based on standards, in particular knowledge of ECSS and CCSDS standards.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.

The following skills and experience would be highly desirable:

  • Experience in or knowledge of Earth Observation missions.
  • Experience in mission control systems, operations or in ground processors.
  • Involvement in the development of new space systems (phase A/B).
  • Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering tools (e.g. Enterprise Architect).
