We are looking for a System Integration Engineer to join our team in supporting the European Space Agency’s Earth Observation missions.

The position is based on-site at ESTEC’s premises in Noordwijk, The Netherlands.

About the client and location

The European Space Research and Technology Centre (ESTEC) is the European Space Agency’s (ESA) base in Noordwijk, the Netherlands. As ESA’s largest test centre, it is responsible for the majority of space technology and spacecraft development through varying phases of production.

Tasks and activities

The scope of work will include:

  • Conducting system level analyses, as request by the project team, in the areas of communications, operations, mission analysis, mission planning or end to end level performances.
  • Reviewing and assessing the verification closure proposed by the industrial team to Satellite Design Specification and Instrument Requirement Specification and evaluate compliance to ESA level requirements (SSRD, SRD, MRD).
  • Supporting Verification Control Board reviews with industry
  • When necessary, further developing the verification justification dossier to demonstrate the full verification of ESA level requirements.
  • In case of identified deviations or non-compliance to system requirements, proposing, developing and analysing system level solutions compatible with Space and Ground Segment design definition.
  • Supporting FDIR activities including of the related requirements (SRS) and the flow down including discussing with Industry.
  • Coordinating the support of other disciplines for verification and FDIR reviews.
  • Reviewing the test plan for FDIR aspects.

Skills and experience

The following skills and experience are mandatory:

  • University Degree or equivalent in the domain of engineering, physics, or equivalent.
  • At least 4 years proven experience in Space System Engineering.
  • Sound knowledge on mission analysis, S2G communication systems and satellite operations.
  • Demonstrated experience in phase C/D including verification and validation activities.
  • System Engineering with experience in FDIR.
  • Familiarity with the ECSS standards.
  • Desire to work both autonomously and as part of a team, in an international multicultural environment.
  • Solution oriented mindset, with a customer focused communication skill.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
