We are looking for a Senior Operations Manager to join our growing team in Darmstadt, Germany. In this key role, you will support the Vice-President in the day-to-day activities, closely managing relationships with clients, partners, and Starion employees throughout the delivery lifecycle.

This position is vital to the success of our teams in Germany, by providing essential support to our employees in their daily tasks, ensuring strong engagement with the company, their projects, and our clients. The role also focuses on driving continuous improvement in the services we provide, as well as in our internal operational processes and initiatives.

The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator, with proven expertise in project/service and people management.

Tasks and activities

The scope of work will include:

  • Support the implementation of the regional operations strategy to enable the business to deliver its full portfolio of services and solutions.
    • Supporting resourcing, capability planning and risk management.
    • Leading continuous improvement projects in Germany Operations. Identifying and actioning opportunities to improve quality, efficiency, clarity, working environment, amongst others.
    • Maintain compliance required by the clients and Starion GROUP in the delivery of contracts and services. Ensuring delivery within the schedule and conforming to all contractual requirements.
    • Responsibility for managing the contracts and ensuring the quality of the service delivery to all clients in Germany, liaising between the client, the employees, and the Starion Deutschland GmbH back office.
    • Contributing to the credibility of Starion as a leader for Service and Solutions in the region in line with the Company’s strategy. Driving excellence in all delivery and operations.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, organisations and partners.
  • Support the implementation of Starion Group HR processes applicable to the operational teams, including:
    • Ensuring key HR processes are implemented rigorously and demonstrating Starion Group’s values.
    • Coordinate and implement the annual Employees Performance Reviews in accordance with Starion Processes and tools.
    • Lead the Training process in the region.
    • Managing the budget, planning and coordinating with Human Resources and the Operations Team.
  • Working with integrity and supporting the company’s regional compliance in Quality and Security.

Skills and experience

The following skills and experience are mandatory:

  • University Degree or equivalent a in technical discipline.
  • At least 7 years proven experience in delivering complex technical projects or services to Institutional and Commercial Clients, preferably in the space industry.
  • Recognized Qualification in Service or project management such as ITIL or PMP.
  • Excellent organisation and planning skills, with the ability to manage priorities and meet strict deadlines.
  • Proven experience in defining and managing resource plans, project schedules, and delivery timelines.
  • A diplomatic approach to problem solving and conflict resolution.
  • Results-driven attitude, with a creative approach to problem-solving and the ability to manage and measure work across multiple teams.
  • Ability to build relationships of trust at all levels of an organisation.
  • Desire to work both autonomously and as part of a team, in an international multicultural environment (particularly with remote teams).
  • Solution oriented mindset, with a customer focused communication skill.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken. German is an asset.

The following skills and experience would be highly desirable:

  • Knowledge of the German space industry.
