We are looking for a Security & Access Management System Engineer to join our team based at EUMETSAT’s premises in Darmstadt, Germany.

This key role will not only allow you to guide, advise and support the client in its security systems, but with a broad variety of tasks and topics to investigate, to also develop your own specialisation, with your own research’s, curiosity and self-motivation.

Starion Deutschland GmbH has been awarded a contract to provide Network and Information Security Engineering Services to EUMETSAT, with the aim of developing an integrated and centralised long-term approach for the implementation of EUMETSAT’s Information Security Management System (ISMS). This will cover EUMETSAT’s IT networks and systems, which comprise operational ground segments, information and communication technology (ICT) solutions and general services (GES) solutions. About the client and location

The European Organisation for the Exploration of Meteorological Satellites (EUMETSAT) is an international organisation of 30 European member states. EUMETSAT operates satellites to monitor weather, climate, and the changing environment. They are responsible for helping to isolate potentially dangerous weather conditions that could affect air travel, farming and other key service industries.

Tasks and activities

The scope of work will include:

  • Perform maintenance of CyberArk environment, including the onboarding of EUMETSAT ground segment facilities.
  • Perform on-boarding of clients to patch management software using internal processes.
  • Coordinate and schedule the patching/downtime window with the system owners as well as internal teams.
  • Participate in internal change management processes for the implementation of the patches. Present the changes in the daily meetings.
  • Perform the patching and hardening tasks.
  • Perform assessments on the clients before/after the patching, perform the troubleshooting when required.
  • Writing automation scripts (Ansible) to patch the systems.

Skills and experience

The following skills and experience are mandatory:

  • University Degree or equivalent in Computer Science, IT, Cybersecurity, or in a relevant field.
  • Proven experience in IT Security, Network Security or System Administration.
  • Experience with vulnerability management in particular performing vulnerability assessments.
  • Proven expertise in Privileged Access Infrastructure deployment, administration and maintenance, preferable CyberArk.
  • Experience in Linux Server OS.
  • Familiarity with Windows operating systems.
  • Expertise with syslog collection and correlation tools (with a preference for syslog-ng).
  • Proficiency with VMware virtualization.
  • Experience with configuration management automation tools (such as Ansible).
  • Skilled in OS patching (RedHat Satellite, Foreman or Orcharhino).
  • Professional experience in multiple scripting languages for systems administration (Bash, Python, Perl, etc.)
  • Strong background in infrastructure management and design, with a focus on security best practices.
  • In-depth understanding of the network and data transport layers, common protocols, and storage subsystems.
  • Desire to work both autonomously and as part of a team, in an international multicultural environment.
  • Solution oriented mindset, with a customer focused communication skill.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
