On behalf of ESA, we are looking for a Programme/Project Controller to work at ESCAT’s premises in Harwell, UK.

You will provide project control expertise across planning, cost, schedule, risk and reporting activities, helping ensure the successful delivery of projects and informed decision-making.

About the client and location

The European Centre for Space Applications and Telecommunications is the European Space Agency’s (ESA) base in Harwell, UK. With special focuses on the link between space and telecommunications, ECSAT also hosts ESA’s Earth Observation Climate Office. It is from here that ESA’s Climate Change Initiative programme is executed.

Tasks and activities

The scope of work will include:

  • Supporting project planning, cost control, scheduling, risk management and reporting activities.
  • Monitoring project performance and provide forecasts, dashboards and management reports.
  • Contributing to procurement, contract management and industrial return activities.
  • Supporting budgeting, forecasting and financial performance monitoring.
  • Maintaining project schedules, risk registers and project control data.
  • Contributing to programme reviews, change control and continuous improvement initiatives.

Skills and experience

The following skills and experience are mandatory:

  • A degree in Engineering, Business Administration or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience in project control, programme management and/or resource management, ideally within the aerospace or high-technology sector.
  • Strong analytical skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Excel and project management tools.
  • Experience with SAP (ECC/SRM); familiarity with ESA applications would be an advantage.
  • Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams, stakeholders and industrial partners.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Solution oriented mindset, with a customer focused communication skill.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.

The following skills and experience would be highly desirable:

  • Experience within the ESA environment would be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of finance and accounting principles and/or an additional ESA language would be advantageous.
