We are looking for a Junior IT Support Technician to work at ESTEC’s premises in Noordwijk, The Netherlands.
About the client and location
The European Space Research and Technology Centre (ESTEC) is the European Space Agency’s (ESA) base in Noordwijk, the Netherlands. As ESA’s largest test centre, it is responsible for the majority of space technology and spacecraft development through varying phases of production.
Tasks and activities
The scope of work will include:
- 1st Line & 2nd Line Technical Support.
- Managing and administering CDF informatics infrastructure resources, including hardware, software, multimedia and communication devices (user access, configuration etc.).
- Maintaining and upgrading CDF hardware and operating systems.
- Installing and upgrading the CDF software applications.
- Managing user access.
- Interfacing the CDP4-COMET software environment to engineering tools and integrating links to external databases.
- Designing and implementing prototypes to test new technologies.
- Providing security, back-up and configuration management support to the local and remote facilities, located in other design centres.
- Preparing and maintaining database systems and archives to exchange data within the CDP4-COMET software, including retrieval of data for example from previous studies.
- Proactively contributing to the on-going enhancement of the CDF infrastructure.
- Providing adequate documentation (user manuals, procedures, reports, etc.) as applicable.
- Preparing and supporting all CDF interdisciplinary activities.
- Maintaining and upgrading CDF hardware and operating systems.
- Designing and implementing test platforms to deliver web technologies relevant for information and operative purposes of the CDF.
- Proactively contributing to the enhancement of the facility infrastructure, performances and new applications including identification, prototyping, procurement and installation of new hardware and software tools, multimedia and communication devices.
- Supporting other informatics tasks within TEC-SYE.
Skills and experience
The following skills and experience are mandatory:
- Certification in Information Technology or a related subject.
- Experience in IT and/or Audio Video support.
- Experience with Operating systems (Microsoft and Linux for installing systems).
- Desire to work both autonomously and as part of a team, in an international multicultural environment.
- Solution oriented mindset, with a customer focused communication skill.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
The following skills and experience would be highly desirable:
- Citrix knowledge for application delivery systems.
- Understanding of ITIL framework.
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on relevant experience.
