We are looking for an Integration and Verification Engineer to work at our client’s premises in the city of Darmstadt, Germany.

You will be part of the AIV Engineering Service Team for the MTG (Meteosat Third Generation) programme for EUMETSAT. The principal task of the IVV Engineering Service Team is to perform the Integration and Verification activities for the System and Ground Segment of MTG, in coordination with the EUMETSAT Technical Officer.

About the client and location

The European Organisation for the Exploration of Meteorological Satellites (EUMETSAT) is a political organisation comprising of 30 European member states. EUMETSAT operates satellites to monitor weather, climate, and the changing environment. They are responsible for helping to isolate potentially dangerous weather conditions that could affect air travel, farming and other key service industries.

Tasks and activities

The scope of work will include:

  • Test Specifications preparation at System and Ground Segment level.
  • Generation of test reports.
  • Generation of non test based verification reports.
  • Interaction with the facilities procurement teams for the procurement of test data identified in the test specifications, including the analysis of received deliverables and attending acceptance tests.
  • Identification and development of additional tools to generate ad-hoc test data or to analyse the test results.
  • Contribute to maintaining the IVV schedule in coordination with the EUMETSAT Technical Officer.
  • Contribute to the definition of the IVV strategy in a schedule in coordination with the EUMETSAT Technical Officer.
  • Contribute to the evolution of the VCD in coordination with the Requirements Verification Team.
  • Contribute, if needed, to the preparation of test procedure, including the automatic test procedures, and execution of tests in coordination with the Tests Preparation and Execution Team.

Skills and experience

The following skills and experience are mandatory:

  • University Degree or equivalent in the domain of engineering, physics, or equivalent.
  • At least 5 years proven experience in the domain.
  • A direct involvement in IV activities for Earth Observation Systems, in particular for data processing, archiving and dissemination systems.
  • Experience in the analysis and reporting of verification results versus associated requirements.
  • Familiarity with the ECSS standards.
  • Familiarity with IBM DOORs.
  • Good knowledge of Python, bash scripting or any higher programming language.
  • Ability to synthesise complex issues.
  • Ability to plan and implement activities, prioritising according to constraints, inter-dependencies and opportunities.
  • Experience in writing formal technical documentation.
  • Desire to work both autonomously and as part of a team, in an international multicultural environment.
  • Solution oriented mindset, with a customer focused communication skills.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
