We are currently looking for a Ground Station Software System Engineer to work in the city of Darmstadt, Germany.
You will support the software activities of ground segment developments in Software and Monitoring and Control (M&C) related to the ground stations.
About the client and location
The European Organisation for the Exploration of Meteorological Satellites (EUMETSAT) is an international organisation of 30 European member states. EUMETSAT operates satellites to monitor weather, climate, and the changing environment. They are responsible for helping to isolate potentially dangerous weather conditions that could affect air travel, farming and other key service industries. Tasks and activities
The scope of work will include:
- Follow up of the detailed design, development activities, integration and testing during Phase C/D of the future ground segments in the areas of ground stations software and M&C systems.
- The analysis and the implementation/testing of changes, or re-engineering that may be required based on user requirements or maintainability issues
- The testing and validation of new software and databases releases
- The maintenance of ground stations automated procedures and related databases
- The remote operation and the maintenance of EUMETSAT Ground Stations in the areas of:
- Monitoring & Control
- Software systems
- Transfer protocol for the spacecraft telemetry, telecommand and mission data
Skills and experience
The following skills and experience are mandatory:
- University Degree or equivalent in computer science, aerospace engineering or a relevant field.
- At least 4 years proven experience in ground segment engineering on a system software level preferably on ground stations monitoring and control.
- Experience in Monitoring & Control software application maintenance and configuration.
- Experience in Linux/Windows operating system.
- Experience in TCP/IP based communications protocols.
- Desire to work both autonomously and as part of a team, in an international multicultural environment.
- Solution oriented mindset, with a customer focused communication skill.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
The following skills and experience would be highly desirable:
- Ground stations system and subsystem design and development for TT&C, mission specific and/or satellite communications ground stations
- Knowledge of ECSS and CCSDS standards in satellite Telemetry, Tele-commanding, ranging & SLE (Space Link Extension)
- Data Base Applications and related configurations control mechanisms
